WHAT IS ALIAS SUBDIVISION MODELING?
Many students asked us about releasing a new course including introduction of Autodesk Alias 2020 and 2021 Subdivision tools.
Many digital modelers heard some about subdivision which is something a little different from polygon modeling but much more effective when you want to change into NURBS!
Subdivision bodies are a type of geometry in Alias software that provides smooth continuous surfaces for the creation of objects and organic shapes. Alias subd bodies are compatible with standard Cat-mull-Clark subd surfaces, which makes them like subd surfaces in other content creation applications such as Maya software and 3ds Max software. Also users had some experiences with this great feature on Rhinoceros.

However, Alias subdivision bodies are a collection of continuous NURBS surface patches, so they also inherit characteristics from Alias surfaces. This means that Alias subdivision bodies include the strengths of Alias NURBS surfaces and traditional SUBD surfaces. Most modelers who were looking for SUBD tutorials know Barry Kimball! He is a guy who shared some tutorials, actually short intro videos, on Autodesk Alias official website and YOUTUBE. I’m sure that no one could figure out how to work with the tools! but at least every one found this a faster feature to create shapes, specially cars and its parts.
