I’m Mohammad Sadra Babaei. As head of MS3D Design Studio, I worked on digital design of a concept car named Elektron Quasar. We formed a team to develop a wonderful concept for Elektron Motors. With 2.300 HP and incredible dynamics, Elektron Quasar is designed to be the most powerful and fastest production car in the world. All the team working on the project, including me, is proud of this.
The story actually began from the idea of the founder and CEO of Elektron Motors, Armagan Arabul, which is based on taking the most aerodynamical shape in the world, “The Water Drop” and design a hypercar around it. After some initial work performed by Arabul and the design team, our talented designer Pham Huy finalized the design with very beautiful lines and sketches. He used photoshop rendering to create a very realistic digital render of the the Elektron Quasar concept car. The result was very interesting and I was very satisfied because the reflections and other related things to the quality of this digital render was very good. So I just started from zero using auto Autodesk Alias Auto Studio software and we worked in synchronization with Leo-RDA and Jesus Antonio Ortega, the engineering partner of Elektron Motors, where our work combined made the whole CAD data ready for production and that each component of the vehicle like the chassis or the drivetrain was compatible with each other.
Autodesk Alias Auto Studio is a very powerful software that creates nice surfaces for us in order to create them Using production machines. The intelligence of this software is amazing and that’s why it’s actually not very user friendly software and only a few designers and 3d modelers around the world know how to work with this software. The interface of the software looks awful honestly but I love that because it’s been a few years that I am working with this actually like my own son!
Let’s get back to the concert car. I just created the very first base of this concept using the software tools. After checking with Arabul, our designer and the engineering team we just moved forward.
When I joined the team, it was very interesting what I found out that the team had already finalized some other components so my work was actually much easier than starting from the exact zero point. Also it was very easy for me to work with the team with a great synergy and together we reached our targets and brought a perfect car into reality, which is now in production.
I know you might say that, so your work was very easy but no this is not exactly the dream of car digital designers! If I wanna be a honest, It’s very hard to connect the other parts that have been engineered within the car to the body parts. It is not just surface modelling, it is the pursuit of finding the perfect harmony of design and engineering to reach the best product. We continued the way, together, step-by-step and day-by-day, despite the time-zone difference within the team and then finally I just achieved the expected 3d Alias model that everyone was looking for.
There are actually different opportunities for 3d Alias modelers around the world in order to have a chance to work on some projects but you know it is very important that if this project is at the middle or it’s just at the start. But for designers and in designers’ world there’s no sentence like “this is impossible!”
Elektron Quasar had many lessons for me. Team work, time attack, responsibility, handling the situation along with caring about limitations, all were such good lessons I learned through this project.
I can’t wait to watch one of these on the streets and point to the car and say this is my work!
Now with Elektron Motors, we are also working on Elektron Truva, whose design is again performed by Pham Huy and whose CAD work is entirely my responsibility at MS3D Design Studio. I am also looking forward to bringing that beauty onto the road as a part of Elektron team.
I have to mention that Elektron Motors GmbH has been awarded as “The Most Successful Automotive Company of the Year” at “International Istanbul Awards 2022”. The company is working on dream hyper cars and make real cars from dream sketches.
